Once selected, dashboard widgets open up directly on the desktop, as advertised. It may require additional research to locate folders where dashboard widgets are stored, but this does not add much to the time of operation for DesktopWidgets for Mac. Users can open a Finder window to select widgets through this drop-down, or through a number of keyboard shortcuts, which are basic and intuitive. A drop-down menu is the only actual interface for the program, and this acts as a gateway to allow dashboard widgets to be operated from the desktop. The instructions are helpful since there is little to the program's operation. The program's first window after installing quickly gives the user the option to open the program, itself, or view an HTML instruction. While there are a number of steps required to set up widgets, once activated they add functionality to most Macs without any glitches. For those who are not able to use the dashboard or any of its widgets due to the extra steps involved to access them, DesktopWidgets for Mac provides a quick way to use those from the main computer screen.
